Knitting Needles:

3.25 mm DPN’s or Magic Loop (US 3)

Notions:

Removable stitch markers if needed
Yarn needle to weave in ends
Scissors
Measuring Tape

Yarn:

Brava Worsted

Yardage:

90-110 depending on neck size

Abbreviations/Stitches:

CO- cast on
Sts- stitchs
k- knit
p- purl
kf&b- knit into front and back of next stitch
k2tog- knit 2 stitches together

Gauge:

(with 3.25 mm needles)
6 sts x 8 rows = 1 inch x 1 inch

Measurements and Sizing:
Widest area: 2 ⅞ inch
Length: 22.5 inches + collar length

Tie

3.5 mm DPN’s or Magic Loop (US 4). Color choices are up to you! Get creative and have fun!

Round 1: Using Long Tail Method, cast on 36 sts. Leave a tail of at least 8" past cast on. This will be used to sew tie shut. Distribute stitches evenly and join to work in round being careful not to twist sts using your preferred method. Place marker to signify beginning of round. (36)

Rounds 2-3: Knit (36)

Round 4: *k2tog, knit half of your total stitch count, k2tog, knit until end. (34)

Round 5: Knit (34)

Repeat rounds 4-5 until stitch count is decreased to 20 stitches

Round 6: kf&b, knit half of your total stitch count, kf&b, knit until end. (22)

Round 7: Knit (22)

Repeat rounds 6-7 until stitch count is increased to 36 stitches

Round 8: *k2tog, knit half of your total stitch count, k2tog, knit until end. (34)

Round 9: Knit (34)

Repeat rounds 8-9 until stitch count is decreased to 16 stitches

Rounds 10-15: Knit (16)

Round 16: *k2tog, k6; repeat * one more time (14)

Rounds 17- 22: Knit (14)

Round 23: *k2tog, k5; repeat * one more time (12)

Rounds 24-33: Knit (12)

Round 34: Place stitch marker at this point. Continue to knit until measurement from stitch marker equals desired collar/neck size.

Rounds 35-44: Knit (12)

Round 45: *kf&b, k5; repeat * one more time (14)

Rounds 46-51: knit (14)

Round 52: *kf&b, k6; repeat * one more time (16)

Round 53-59: Knit (16)

Round 60: kf&b, knit half of your total stitch count, kf&b, knit until end. (18)

Round 61: Knit (18)

Repeat rounds 61-62 until stitch count is increased to 36 stitches

Round 62: *k2tog, knit half of your total stitch count, k2tog, knit until end. (34)

Round 63: Knit (34)

Repeat rounds 63-64 until stitch count is decreased to 20 stitches

Round 64: kf&b, knit half of your total stitch count, kf&b, knit until end. (22)

Round 65: Knit (22)

Repeat rounds 65-66 until stitch count is increased to 36 stitches

Round 66: Knit (36)

Finishing

Use Sewn Bind Off Method, fasten off, and draw thread through last stitch. Use ending and beginning threads to stitch beginning and ending tie openings closed, weave in end.

Blocking Tie when completed is recommended.
