What you need to crochet a headband:

During the cooler months, it's most important to stay warm, but not everyone wants a hat. A crochet earwarmer will be less likely to mess up your hair, is great to wear any day of the week, and it looks great with any outfit.

This last year twisted crochet headbands became very trendy, so of course, I wanted to create a crochet version that is classic with beautiful stitches.

Notes:

Since this is worked continuously, a ch 1 at the beginning of the round is not needed. It is helpful to place a stitch marker on the first stitch of each round.

Special Stitches:

Split Single Crochet (ssc), also known as the waistcoat stitch: Insert hook between the legs of the stitch (on the back of work the hook should be under the horizontal bar and between the upside-down ‘V’ shape as well), yarn over, pull up a loop to the height of a single crochet, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook. Tip: Keep a loose tension so the stitches are easily worked.

More About The Crochet Headband Pattern

This quick and easy earwarmer headband is so squishy! It will not only add to your outfit, but keep your ears extra cozy. The stitches for this pattern mimic a knit and purl stitch, but with crochet. The earwarmer crochet headband is made as a tube and then the ends are sewn together to make the join look twisted.

Joining the Crochet Headband

Hold an end of the earwarmer in each hand. Shape the left hand into the shape of a ‘C’, and then the right hand into a backwards ‘C’. Interlock the ‘C’ together as shown in the image below, or watch this process on YouTube.

With a tapestry needle and the yarn tail, sew the edges together working through all the layers. The seam will be hidden inside the twist. Weave in loose ends and turn the headband right-side out.

And that's it! It's time to look stylish and keep those ears warm. I hope you enjoy this pattern and keep cozy this season.
