This bonnet has a very flexible fabric so it can fit all different sizes of newborns. It’s a quick knit, so perfect for a last-minute baby shower gift. This knit bonnet is knit in one piece and can have yarn or ribbon ties. Remember, any bonnet with ties should always be worn under supervision as it could be a choking hazard.

Row 1: For starting row: Working rows on straight needles or circular. Long-tail cast on 54, turn
Rows 2-4: Knit across; turn (54)
Row 5: p2, *k2, p2; repeat * across, turn (54)
Row 6: k2, *p1, yo, p1, k2; repeat * across, turn (67)
Row 7: p2, *k3, p2; repeat * across, turn (67)
Row 8: k2, *p3, k2; repeat * across, turn (67)
Row 9: p2, *k3, then pass the first of the knit stitches on your right needle over the last 2 and drop it, p2; repeat * across, turn(54)
Repeats: Repeat rows 6-9 for 5 more times (6 total pattern repeats)
Round 11: Joining and working in the round, use circular or DPN needles: p2tog, *k, yo, k, p2, k, yo, k, p2tog, k2tog, p2tog; repeat * around until last 4 stitches. k, yo, k p2tog in the last 4 (49)

At end of the round fasten off, and use a tapestry needle to weave yarn through the remaining stitches and off your needles. Pull tight to close bonnet, weave in ends. Block bonnet and tie yarn or ribbon to each front side.
