Rnd 1: MC, chain 2, DC 10 inside Magic Circle, Join and Ch 2 (10)

Rnd 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, Join and Ch 2 (20)

Rnd 3: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next, repeat around, Join and Ch 2 (30)

Rnd 4: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 2, repeat around, Join and Ch 2 (40)

Rnds 5-9: DC in each stitch around, Join and Ch 2. (40)

At the end of round 9, Join and change to Dark Green, Ch 1 

Rnd 10: SC in each stitch around, Join. (40)

Rnd 2: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around (9)

Rnd 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around (12)

Rnd 4: SC in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 5: SC2tog, SC in next 2, repeat around (9)

At the end of round 11 fasten off and leave a long tail.

(You can carry the Dark Green on the inside of your work so there are fewer ends to weave in later. See picture below.)

Top of Cocoon Tie

Cut a strand of Light Green yarn approx. 40 inches. Starting on the front, weave in and out of every two stitches on round 32. Tie a bow on the front. 

Graduation Cap Top

Use Black Yarn & H-hook

Row 1: Ch 11, SC in the second ch from hook and across, Turn and Ch 1 (10)

Rows 2-10: SC in each stitch across, Turn and Ch 1 (10)

Row 11: SC in each stitch across. At end of the row continue to SC around the outside of the square, with 2 SC on each corner. Join and fasten off, weave in ends. (10)

Graduation Cap Bottom

Rnd 1: Leave a long tail for attaching to the hat, Ch 20, Join, and Ch 1 (20)

Rnds 2-4: SC in each stitch around, Join and Ch 1 (20)

Rnd 5: SC in each stitch around. Join and leave a long tail to sew onto the cap top. (20)

Gradutation Cap Tassel:

Cut one strand of yellow thread 6 inches. 

Cut 10 strands of yellow thread approx. 12 inches long. (Tip: if you wrap around a book 12 times you can cut once) 

Pull strands through the middle of the cap top and pull to be even. Twist each strand clockwise while at the same time twisting the two strands together. Use your 6-inch strand to tie and secure the bottom of the tassel. Cut the strands to be equal in length.

Sew the cap bottom to the middle of cap top.

Sew the cap to the top of the hat. I put mine a little bit off-center, but you can place how you like.

Crochet Apple

Brava Worsted in Wine & H-hook

Work in a continuous round, without joining. Use a stitch marker to keep track of rounds.

Rnd 1: Leaving a long tail, MC, SC 6 inside Magic Circle Before closing MC, pull your beginning strand to the outside of your work. See the picture below. (6)

Rnd 3: 2 SC in first, SC in next, repeat around (18)

Rnd 4: 2 SC in first, SC in next 2, repeat around (24)

Rnd 5: 2 SC in first, SC in next 3, repeat around (30)

Rnd 6: 2 SC in first, SC in next 4, repeat around (36)

Rnd 7: 2 SC in first, SC in next 5, repeat around (42)

Rnd 8: 2 SC in first, SC in next 6, repeat around (48)

Rnds 9-18: SC in each stitch around (48)

Rnd 19: SC2tog, SC in next 6, repeat around (42)

Rnd 20: SC2tog, SC in next 5, repeat around (36)

Rnd 21: SC2tog, SC in next 4, repeat around (30)

Rnd 22: SC2tog, SC in next 3, repeat around (24)

Stuff apple with fiberfill 

Rnd 23: SC2tog, SC in next 2, repeat around (18)

Rnd 24: SC2tog nine times (9)

Finish stuffing apple until firm 

Rnd 25: SC2tog until apple opening is closed 

Fasten off and leave a long tail to shape apple 

To shape the apple, use your strands and a sewing needle that is at the top and bottom of the apple. Pull the strand to the other side of the apple and pull until the center pulls in. 

Weave in your end to secure work and fasten off. Repeat for the bottom of the apple.

Crochet Apple Stem

Use F-hook and work in continuous rounds, without joining. Use a stitch marker to keep track of rounds.

Rnd 1: MC, SC 4 inside Magic Circle (4)

Rnds 2-7: SC in each stitch around (4)

At the end of round 7, fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew to the top middle of the apple.

Apple Leaf

Lion Brand Homespun in Pesto– Light Green & H-hook

Ch 9, TR in 4th Ch from hook, TR in next, DC in next, HDC in next 2, SC in the last Now you will be working around the other side, skip the first stitch (this is the stitch that you already put one SC in) SC in next, HDC in next 2, DC in next, TR in last, Ch 3 and Sl St in the same stitch.
Leave a tail, fasten off and sew onto top of the apple.
