Free Elephant Baby Crochet Pattern
This elephant crochet baby pattern is perfect for dressing up a little one for a photo session. I crocheted this elephant outfit for my littlest one when he was born. And the crochet pattern is sized to 12 months so you can keep making outfits as they grow.

Bow Tie or Bow for Elephant Crochet Pattern

Rnd 1: HDC in each stitch around, join and Ch 2. (30)
Rnd 2-4: Repeat Rnd 1 (30)
Rnd 5: HDC in each stitch around, join and fasten off leaving a long tail to wrap around the center of the bow. (see photos on next page)
Sew Pink bow onto the hat for a girl. For newborn boy set bow under the chin for photos. You can add the string to the bow tie around the neck for older children, however, I do not recommend doing so unless there is adult supervision while wearing as it is a choking hazard.
Elephant Tail
Cut 2 pieces of blue or pink yarn, and 4 pieces of grey yarn, each approximately 16 inches long. Loop the yarn through stitches on the back middle of the diaper cover, a couple of rows below the blue or pink band. Separate into 3 groups of 4 and braid. Using a 6-inch piece of grey yarn, tie and secure the braid at the bottom. Cut the strands at the end of the tail to an equal length.
Bow for Elephant Tail
Use F hook and light blue or pink yarn.
Ch 2.5, Join and Ch 1
Rnd 1: SC in each stitch around, join and Ch 1 (25)
Rnd 2-3: Repeat Rnd 1 (25)
Rnd 4: SC in each stitch around, join and fasten off leaving a long tail to wrap around the center of the bow. With a sewing needle attached to the top of the tail on the back of the diaper cover.
