Construction
This crochet blanket is worked in rows using the classic granny stitch, with added color changes to create a beautifully unique design. After completing the blanket's body and weaving in the ends, we’ll finish it off with a simple border worked in the round, maintaining the same elegant granny stitch. The result is a cozy and comforting blanket, perfect for all ages and sizes.
The Colorful Granny Blanket and the Sanibel Blanket are both delightfully simple projects, perfect for adding pops of color and texture to any room of your home. They’re also great for using up your yarn stash!
Special Stitches

Border
Tip: Rotate your work to begin working along the edge. When working along the edge of the Stsc or double crochet pieces, place approx. 2 sts along each row edge keeping the fabric even.
With the RS facing, begin working the edge sts around the outside of the blanket as follows:
Rnd 1:
Sc into first edge space/st, *insert your hook into the left bar of the sc st, then insert into the next space/st on the edge of the blanket. Yarn over and pull a loop through the blanket fabric and also through one loop on the hook. Yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook. Repeat from * all the way around the edges of the blanket. On the corners work one st, then ch 2, then work another st. At the end of the rnd ch 2 and sl st to the first st.
Rnd 2:
Blo Dc in each st around, placing (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) into the ch-2 corner spaces.
Finishing
Fasten off and weave in all ends. Block if needed and enjoy!
Crochet blankets are truly timeless treasures that add warmth, charm, and a personal touch to any home. Whether you’re wrapping yourself in cozy comfort on a chilly evening or gifting one to a loved one for a special occasion, these handmade creations will surely be cherished for years to come.
To keep your crochet blankets looking their best, hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water (check your yarn label for more washing instructions), and lay flat to dry or tumble dry on low heat to preserve their shape and softness.
For storage, fold your blankets neatly and keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, to maintain their vibrant colors and texture. With a little love and care, your crochet blankets will continue to be a beautiful part of your home or the perfect heartfelt gift for someone special!
If you love making blankets as much as I do, the Braided Wheat Blanket or the Garden Blanket would be ideal for your next project!
Cheers, and happy crocheting!
