How the Braided Wheat Stitch Blanket Is Made
This blanket is worked flat in one piece, from one ribbed border to the other. You start with eight rows of single crochet for the first border, worked in the back loop after the first row.
In the body, Wheat Stitch rows alternate with back loop single crochet rows. The first and last 8 stitches of every row stay in back loop single crochet, so the side borders build themselves as you go. Eight more rows of back loop single crochet finish the second border, and there’s nothing to add at the end.
