Notes on the Crochet Unicorn Cowl:

The Unicorn Crochet Cowl is worked in the Split Single Crochet Stitch in the round without joining, preventing any unsightly seams. The body is crocheted first, with the ribbing worked last. The chart and/or written instructions will need to be repeated four times for complete round instructions.

Special Crochet Stitches:

Split Single Crochet (ssc): https://brianakdesigns.com/split-stitch-mania/
This stitch is worked as a single crochet but where the hook is inserted between the ‘V’ of the stitch. Pull up the first loop to have a loose tension, so each round is easily worked.

In the colorwork section Color A (Chroma Fingering in Groovy) will be abbreviated as (A), and Color B (Chroma Fingering in Grey) as (B).
Example: (B) x 9 = with Color B ssc the next 9 stitches.
The chart will be worked from right to left for each round and repeated four times.

Row 3: Ch 1, in blo sc 4, sl st into the next two stitches on the cowl edge, turn.
Repeat Rows 2-3 ribbing around the cowl edge. To join the two edges together, fasten off and seam the beginning edge to the ending edge with a tapestry needle. Or, if preferred, slip stitch through the blo from the ending edge and the stitch from the beginning edge at the same time. Fasten off.

Join yarn to the beginning edge of the cowl and repeat the ribbing instructions.

Finishing
Fasten off and weave in ends. Block aggressively to reduce slanting of the stitches.
