Assembly:

Stuff small and large antlers with batting. I stuff mine generously so they hold shape when hat is on child’s head.

Using a tapestry needle sew the small antler to the side of the large antler between rows 7-12. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Thread tapestry needle to the strand of yarn that come out of the top of the small antler. Weave the thread on the top of the antler between every other row, working your way towards the big antler. Gently pull the strand of yarn to pull the small antler into a crescent shape so it points more vertical. Fasten off and weave in end. Repeat to other antler.

Attach antlers to the hat on each side on rows 3 and 4. Be sure to pay attention to the way the point of your antlers are facing so they appear in uniform. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Using a tapestry needle sew the ears behind the antlers on row 4 and 5. I pull my stitches a little tighter to help hold them up.

With the tail point facing down, sew the tail onto row 2 in the middle of the diaper cover back.

Fuzzy in ears and tail:

Use  Lion Brian Homespun Deco.

Use H hook.

Using your crochet hook, pull a strand of yarn through the ear on the second row. Pull from back to the front of the ear.

In the space next to the last pull a loop through

Tie the first strand and the loop together. I like to tie twice using a double knot.

Pull loops through the next two spaces. Tie the loops together.

Continue to pull and tie loops together working back and forth across each row until the top of the ear.

Cut loops to a ½ to ¾ inch length. Rub your hand over the yarn several times to fluff the yarn and blend it together.

Repeat for other ear and tail.

You can let the tail curl up to show the white fuzz. For the ears fold them in so they curl towards the front of the hat.
