Why should you crochet your own christmas tree skirt?
The holidays are my favorite time to stretch my creative outlet. Christmas is especially one of my beloved decorating seasons. Not only is a Christmas Tree Skirt fun to make, but it's always a way to incorporate your seasonal color choices. I think this would also look amazing in the traditional cream, red and green colors.
The use of a Christmas tree skirt is often seen as an icon for the holiday season. Since a tree skirt is often kept for many years, this crochet piece could become a family heirloom. How cool would it be to pass this down to your kids?
Decorating a Christmas tree first originated in Germany. It started out as attaching bows to a tree, and then they attached lit candles to the bows. But as you can predict, candle wax would be an issue on the floor. So to keep the mess contained, the Christmas Tree Skirt emerged.
Could you imagine having to replace a tree skirt every year? Thank goodness we now have easier ways to light up our trees and we can keep using our tree skirts year after year.
What is a modern crochet Christmas tree skirt?
Modern crochet Xmas tree skirts are a perfect way to give your holiday decor an updated and modern look. These skirts can be made with materials such as cotton, wool, or polyester yarn. They often feature unique stitches and designs that add texture and color to the base of your tree. These skirts are great for those looking to give their holiday decor a modern twist.

Notes:
For the colorwork section, Color B will be abbreviated as (B), and color A as (A). Example: (B) x 9 = with Color B, ssc the next 9 stitches
Since this is worked continuously, a ch 1 at the beginning of the round is not needed. It is helpful to place a stitch marker on the first stitch of each row. This is worked in fair isle and the yarn is carried on the back of the work.
The sizes are written as: XS (S, M, L)
More About this Crochet Pattern:
The Pine Christmas Tree Skirt is a festive colorwork pattern to adorn the bottom of your tree at the holidays. This is created from the center out, in continuous rounds. There is no slit so it must be placed over your tree base before putting the tree onto the base. Or it can go under your entire tree base. There are two charts at the end of the pattern, one in colors shown as a sample, and one to color in your own color choices.
Special Crochet Stitches:
Split Single Crochet (ssc), also known as the waistcoat stitch: Insert hook between the legs of the stitch (on the back of work the hook should be under the horizontal bar and between the upside-down ‘V’ shape as well), yarn over, pull up a loop to the height of a single crochet, yarn over, pull through both loops on hook. Tip: Keep a loose tension so the stitches are easily worked. https://brianakdesigns.com/split-single-crochet-round-flat/
