Also known as the Diagonal Leaf Grid Stitch, this pattern reminds me of the intricate designs found in Amish wedding quilts. The way the clusters stack and angle across the fabric creates a sense of movement and layered geometry, much like the carefully pieced motifs in traditional quilt patterns. It has that same balance of structure and softness—each stitch adding to a larger, harmonious whole—making it a joy to work and a beautiful way to bring a touch of timeless, handcrafted charm to any project.

Construction
What sets the Circle Leaf Stitch apart is its rhythm of structured clusters and anchored single crochets, which create dimension and movement across the fabric. The clusters are centered on previous rows, building upon themselves to form a leafy circle.

Stacked Cluster Stitch Tutorial:
To get you used to the terminology, let’s go over the St Cluster in detail.
Step 1:
Ch 3. Yo and insert your hook into the 3rd ch from the hook.

Yo and pull up a loop – 3 loops on your hook.

Yo, pull through 2 loops.

Yo, insert hook into the same chain.

Yo and pull up a loop – 4 loops on your hook.

Yo, pull through two loops.

Yo, and pull through remaining loops. Cluster finished! (For a single Cluster, this is all you need to do.)

Now, we’re going to stack another Cluster right on top of the one we just made.
Ch 3, [yo and insert your hook into the 3rd ch from the hook, yo and pull up a loop, yo and pull through two loops] twice, yo and pull through all the loops on the hook.
