Animal Print Knit Bag Pattern

An Animal Print Knit Pattern Bag that's friendly to animals.
While most of us can’t even afford animal print, why would we spend the money when we can create knit items ourselves? Not to mention is a more animal-friendly option. The best cute bag accessory option is to go faux, and even better knit it yourself!

I’m not one to pay attention to celebrities unless they do something funny lol. Often I can’t place faces with names and I have no idea who won the Oscars. Which is okay because I have many friends that will keep me up to date.
I wasn’t allowed to watch much TV as a kid, we didn’t have cable and it was pretty much only some Saturday morning TV. Which I’m okay with, but I never gained that pop culture interest.
But recently I heard something about a Kardashian that I did pay attention to. I know, a Kardashian. Don’t run away please, I’ve got a fashion solution to the negative pop culture chaos.
So here is what happened reported by Buzzfeed.
Kylie Jenner reposted Kim Kardashian’s post about the tragedy of animals dying in Australian fires. If you are not sure what Kardashian is what Kardashian, don’t fret, me either.
What was shocking was the next thing Kylie Jenner posted only hours later. An image of her new pedicure….. wearing her $1,500 Mink Louis Vuitton Slippers.
Yep, palm to face. Like ugh.
It just felt a little hypocritical right? And to each their own, but if you want fashion without animal cruelty, many artists can give you that. And that’s my goal today.
One thing I love about supporting faux animal artists is they care where their materials come from. They know about their product and choose the best choices for the animals and customers.
It’s also often more sustainable and environmentally friendly to go with the faux option. Plus, your friends will love you more for not killing a tiger for the stripes.
I hope this unique animal print bag not only is an awesome accessory in your closet, but a great way to celebrate the beauty of animals without harming them.
About This Yarn
For this knit animal print bag, I used one of my favorite cotton yarns, I Love This Cotton. I find it to be soft but also sturdy without much stretch, which is what you want when making a bag.
Can the animal print bag work with other yarns?
You can! Because this is not a fitted item, feel free to try it out with other styles of yarn. Or raid your stash. The critical thing to remember when finding a substitute yarn for this knit bag is a minimal stretch.

Notes:
This pattern is worked in the round, use a stitch marker at the beginning of the round.
- Since there are wrong sides and the right sides to the bag, a combination of intarsia and carrying yarn can be used on the inside of the bag for the colorwork. Experiment and see what works best for you. Another option is to knit the bag without the black colorwork and create a duplicate stitch later.

- Center Double Decrease (cdd): slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitches over the knit stitch.
