How to Crochet A Table Runner

Have you ever crocheted a table runner? I’m going to walk you through each step to make this beautiful fall decor. The Fall Skies & Apples Pies Crochet Table Runner is made in rows and uses written instructions as well as a colorwork chart.

Crochet Table Runner Supplies

Each stitch is like a pixel of an image. Haven’t ever done colorwork? Head on over to the Crochet Colorwork post to learn the different types of colorwork and how each method is used.

For this pattern, we can use a combination of intarsia crochet and carry our yarn on the back of our work. It’s helpful to use crochet bobbins when using more than two colors at once. No one will see the back of the table runner, so no need for it to be pretty.

And be sure to visit my post on How to Decorate with Table Runners.

Notes:

For the colorwork instructions, Color A/White will be abbreviated as (A), Color B/Orange as (B), Color C/Blue as (C), Color D/Brown as (D), and Color E/Green as (E). All stitches will be worked in single crochet.
Example: (B) x 9 = with Color B sc the next 9 stitches

There is no need to chain 1 at the beginning of each row. Without the chain 1 you will have straighter edges. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch in the row.
