Here’s why these games exist. Sometimes your hands need a break from yarn, but you don’t really want a break from yarn. Maybe you’re stuck in a doctor’s office without your project bag, or your wrists are done for the day. You still want to be in the yarn world, so we made games for exactly that. They’re all crochet, they’re all free, and there are 20 of them now.

Just One More Row earns its name. It’s quick to learn, every round is different, and there’s always one more row you could’ve cleared.

What Just One More Row Is

It’s a yarn block puzzle. The board is a 10-by-10 grid, and your project bag holds three pieces at a time. Each piece is a small cluster of yarn balls in one of six shapes: a single ball, a short line, a long line, a corner, a square, or a big 3 by 3 block.

Fill a whole row or a whole column, and it clears off the board. Use all three pieces and your bag refills with three new ones. The round continues until none of the pieces in your bag fit anywhere.

At the top, you’ll see your score, multiplier, and best score.

How to Play Just One More Row

Placing a piece. Drag a piece out of your bag and drop it on the board. While you drag, the board shows exactly where it’ll land and tells you when a spot won’t fit.

Shapes. Pieces go on the board the way they show up in the bag, so plan around their shape.

Clearing lines. A full row across or a full column down clears away. Fill a row and a column with the same piece and they both clear at once.

Refilling the bag. Once all three pieces are on the board, your bag refills with three new ones.

The end of a round. When nothing left in your bag fits on the board, the round is over.

Scoring and the Multiplier

Every yarn ball you place on the board earns points, and clearing a line earns much more. Your multiplier starts at ×1.00 and increases as it climbs, making everything worth more.

Here’s how to grow it: clear more than one line with a single piece. Two lines at once bumps it up a little, three lines bumps it more, and four or more at once gives it a big jump. It stays with you for the rest of the round, so big early clears pay off all the way through.

Your best score is saved, and the game tells you when you beat it. If you close the page mid-round, your board saves too, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Specials: Felted Balls and Snips

Two special yarn balls keep things interesting.

  • Felted: these gray, fuzzy balls have felted together, so they’re stubborn. You have to clear their line twice before they let go. Every new board starts with a few of them already on it.
  • Snips: the mulberry ball with the scissors on it. Get two snips in the same row or column, and that line cuts free, even if it isn’t full.

If you’d rather play the classic way, you can turn Specials off in Settings.

Make It Yours: Look and Sound

Tap the gear to open Settings. Under Look, choose Midnight, a moody berry-and-teal background, or Cream, a cozy craft room where your pieces sit in a project bag on a wooden shelf. This is also where you turn Specials on or off.

Sound starts off. Tap the speaker to pick Wooden, Chimes, or Soft, or leave it off for quiet play.

The corner-bracket button fills your whole screen with the game, and New Board lets you start fresh anytime.

Play Just One More Row

Here it is. One row. Maybe two.

When Nothing Else Fits

When none of the yarn in your bag will fit, the game says so, shows your final score and multiplier, and gives you a New board button. That’s the moment the name kicks in.

Just One More Row FAQs

Is Just One More Row free?

Yes. It’s free here on the blog and free in the Briana K Stitch app.

Do I need an account to play?

Not here. You can play on this page without signing up. The app version needs a free account, the same one that holds your patterns.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. It works on phones, tablets, and computers. On a phone, the project bag sits under the board, and you drag pieces up with your finger. The full screen button gives you more room.

What are the gray fuzzy yarn balls?

Those are felted balls. You have to clear their line twice before they go away. You can turn them off, along with snips, by switching Specials off in Settings.

What do the scissors do?

That’s a snips ball. Two snips in the same row or column clear that line right away, even if it isn’t full.

Does the game ever end?

Each round ends when nothing in your bag fits on the board. Then you start a new board and try to beat your best.

If I leave, do I lose my game?

No. Your board saves as you play, so you can come back and keep going in the same browser.

Cheers, and happy crocheting (and just one more row).
