Yarn Shuffle is a free match-three game where every piece on the board is a ball of yarn. Line up three of a color, watch them clear, and work your way from a tiny swatch all the way up to a blanket. You can play it right here on the blog.
This whole thing started on a day I wanted to play with yarn, but my hands needed a break. And what’s a better way to play with yarn than a game? One game turned into a bunch, and here we are.
Open Yarn Shuffle in the Briana K App!

I love playing games. They keep my mind active and my hands busy when I can’t actually play with yarn. I’m so excited to share all of this with you.

How to Play Yarn Shuffle
Step 1: Get to know the board
You start with a board packed with yarn in six colors: heather, teal, berry, clay, sage, and honey. On the side, you’ll see your score (Stash busted), your Moves, the project you’re working on, and your Biggest yet.

Step 2: Swap two balls
Drag a ball onto the one next to it, or tap a ball, then tap the ball you want to trade it with. The ball you tap gets a little box around it so you know you’ve picked it. A swap only sticks if it makes a line of three or more of the same color, across or down.

Step 3: Watch the stash drop
Once you make a line, those balls clear off the board and the ones above fall into the gap. If that makes another line, it clears too, and every link in the chain is worth more than the last.

Step 4: Go for bigger lines
The longer the line, the more yarn you bust:
- Three balls: 10 points
- Four balls: 30 points
- Five balls: 100 points
And it climbs from there.
Step 5: Fill the bar and finish your project
Every point you score fills the bar on your project card. Fill it all the way, and you’ve finished that project, so you cast on the next one.

Here’s the lineup, from first to last:
- Swatch
- Coaster
- Dishcloth
- Scarf
- Beanie
- Mittens
- Socks
- Sweater
- Cardigan
- Blanket
Every project you finish multiplies everything you score after it. Finish your Swatch and your Coaster scores at 2×. But each project takes more yarn than the last, so the Blanket is still a long way off. (Just like real life.)

Step 6: Stuck? Tap Hint
Can’t find a match? Tap Hint and the game lights up two balls you can swap.

Step 7: Make it yours
If some of the colors are hard to tell apart, tap Shapes. It adds a small symbol to each color so you can match by shape, too.

Tap the gear to pick your board: Standard, Roomy or Packed. Tap the speaker to pick your sound: Wooden, Chimes, Soft, or Off.

Good to Know
- There’s no timer. Take as long as you like.
- If you run out of moves, the stash winds itself into a fresh skein, so you can keep going.
- Your game saves itself. Close the page and pick up right where you left off.
It works on your phone too, so you can play wherever you are.
